“I appeal to you brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.” – Paul [1 Cor. 1:10]
Paul writes this to a church that was divided by arrogance and a lack of understanding in key theological issues. Maybe it was partly because of how Corinth was a place where many cultures and religions merged. Maybe it was partly because of the sinful nature of people who made up the church.
The troubling developments prompted Paul to write 1 Corinthians, a letter that is sometimes stern, and other times full of love and grace, but always passionate and inspired. Today, we have an opportunity to learn from their struggles. It’s not too late to join us on Wednesday nights to study the letter that Paul wrote. I believe that it will challenge and encourage us to become a church united in Christ.
