Crossway has been working with Olive Crest in multiple capacities for the past 5 years. This last outing with Olive Crest youth, was especially memorable, as I got to see and congratulate several young teens who stated that they were recently baptized. Our outings with these youngsters is to build intentional relationships so that through our actions, they may know Christ.
This past outing, we heard that some publically professed Jesus as Lord, Hallelujah! Loving them through a very difficult season in their life, can shed a glimmer of hope that things might be ok. It is important to show these young men a life of “normalcy” away from their abusive experiences and simply loving on them through meals and spending time together.
Laughing and joking may be a part of our life, but for some, it has become an anomaly. To see these youth smile, play basketball, have an appetite to eat, and joke, shows some positive change. I believe that Crossway is part of the movement of change; in loving our neighbors and (modern-day) orphans (James 1:27).
The reason for this season is the birth of Jesus Christ. Let’s celebrate by emulating His love to others. #bekind #begenerous
