Justice and the Church

Posted by Jessica Cho on

Micah 6:8

He has told you, O man, what is good;
    and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
    and to walk humbly with your God?

The birth of Crossway’s 6:8 Initiative stems from the words given to us through Micah 6:8. The Lord requires justice and kindness; a simple request, yet difficult to put into action. These words can become so abstract when not practiced, that it becomes difficult to make relevant in our everyday life.

Crossway’s 6:8 Initiative is a ministry designed to help others practice justice and kindness in our own community. Any task seems like a huge feat when attempting to tackle it on your own. That is why most programs for any ailment collaboratively have a team of people working with an individual for accountability and community. Likewise, the 6:8 Initiative is a community of believers, like yourself, that desire to make positive impact in our community by practicing justice and kindness. This ministry provides a tangible way of beginning this discipline for those who do not necessarily know where or how to begin.

With the on-going rotation of three partnered organizations of soup kitchen, Olive Crest, and Serve the People, we get to serve and practice justice and kindness in its purest form, LOVE. Through our time and talents, let’s continue to be a resource in our community, making the church relevant, just as HE is in our daily life. Let’s reflect our God, who is a God of compassion, mercy, justice, kindness, and love

Get involved and email I look forward to practicing justice and kindness with you soon!
